I hope many of you are planning to come out to our third annual Teens and Technology session this Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria. I will be sharing information with families on the social media behavior of our CHMS students and talking about some the apps you need to be most familiar with as you allow smartphones into your children’s hands. Teens today are confronted with so much peer pressure. The added ease of these apps allows for all sorts of inappropriate and dangerous behavior. It is essential that we, as adults, are familiar with what our kids are doing online. We will also spend some time showing parents some of the positive uses of technology here at CHMS. If you have ever wondered about your child’s access to Google Docs or have heard that the homework is on Google Classroom…come out on Tuesday and be introduced to these positive technological platforms that we are using.
Don’t forget that Friday is a teacher workday. This is the day we set aside for parent conferences. If you feel that you need to speak with your child’s teachers, please reach out to the counselor to arrange a time to meet. Thursday is the last day of the first quarter and grades will be finalized. If your child is missing any assignments (check Power School) please ensure that they submit them by Thursday. Thank you and have a wonderful week!
Have a great week!Jamie W. Brooks

BoxTop Challenge - Ends October 30
The BoxTops pizza party contest is off to a great start. Many students brought in BoxTops at the Pink Out to help their homeroom with the pizza party! It is not too late to win a pizza party for your class and a gift for your Homeroom teacher. The contest will run until October 30. Support the school and bring in those valid BoxTops.
Teens & TechnologyOctober 20 at 6:30 PM - Cafeteria
Come out and learn about what our very own teenagers are doing online. Not only will we explore the world of social media but we will also share with parents the various technology platforms used at CHMS. Hopefully you will learn ways to monitor and support your children’s technology at home. No students please as the social media content is mature.
October Fest - October 20
The October Fest teacher luncheon will be held in the conference room on October 20.
Coffee & Conversations with PrincipalOctober 27 at 6:30 PM - Cafeteria
Please come out and join Principal Brooks in an open conversation about celebrating diversity at CHMS. Principal Brooks wants to get a wide perspective on how CHMS is doing with making all children and families feel valued here. No students please for this event. The conversations will be expanded to include students later in the year.
