Happy Labor Day! Just a reminder that we do not have school tomorrow, September 7. I am sure that many of you have seen that school data was released by the state this past week. I am so excited to share with you that CHMS is one of only three middle schools in CMS to receive straight As on the NC School Report Card. Our proficiency data in both reading and math scored in the A range as did the overall proficiency of the school. We are very proud of this recognition. However, what we are even MORE proud of is the data that is never mentioned in the media, and that is our growth data. As you may have heard me mention before, it is growth that truly tells what is happening in the classrooms. Are the children leaving the school at a higher level than when they entered? At CHMS this is key since so many of our students are well beyond just being “proficient.” With that being said I am extremely excited to let you know that CHMS had the highest growth of any CMS middle school AND the highest growth of any middle school in the state of North Carolina. Additionally, CHMS ranked third (out of 2504 schools) in the entire state for its growth scores. This speaks volumes about what is going on in our classrooms, the level of rigor that is expected and the work ethic of our students. Way to go Cavaliers!!
Thank you for your continued support of our school and don’t forget about the PTO Capital CampaignJ Have a great holiday,
