It was a difficult week last week at CHMS with the loss of Josh Pang. I am so very proud of how the staff and students pulled together to both honor Josh's memory and to support one another in their grief. I shared with the student body that out of all tragedy we must find a way to make a positive. I told them that as I called families last weekend to share the news I was struck by two things. First, everyone said the same thing about Josh...he was a big personality who lit up the room and didn't know a stranger. Second, I found myself crossing all "social lines" as I spoke to families. Josh didn't care about labels or social groups... He truly was friends with everyone. The message in this is for all of us to live more like Josh lived. Be kind to everyone. Don't get caught up in social groups or perceived social labels. It matters not if you are black, white, Hispanic or Asian. It doesn't matter if you are in to sports, or music, or skateboarding or reading... What matters is that love and kindness are universal. Josh learned that at an early age. Let's all honor Josh by trying to be a bit more like him. If we can live more in that spirit then good can come from this tragedy. God bless you all,
Jamie W. Brooks

Art by Me
Students enrolled in 2nd semester art classes will be participating in the Art By Me fundraising program. You will have an opportunity to purchase professionally-made products from your student's original artwork, and at the same time help our school earn extra money. After Spring Break, art students will receive a special "Tear and Share" preview postcard featuring artwork they have been working on in class. These postcards will provide ordering information. All orders will be due back to CHMS by Wednesday, April 13, with checks made payable to "CHMS FAB." Orders will return to the school in early May -- just in time to make a great gift for Mother's Day. Thank you for your support.
